The first Blu-ray to be released in India, featuring Dolby TrueHD with advanced 96k upsampling and in 7.1 surround sound
Mumbai, October 12, 2012—Dolby Laboratories, Inc. (NYSE:DLB) andYash Raj Films today announced the launch of the Blu-ray Disc™ version of the latest Yash Raj Films blockbuster movie, Ek Tha Tiger, starring Salman Khan. This is the first movie title on Blu-ray™ disc from India, to be released featuring Dolby TrueHD with advanced 96k upsampling and in 7.1 surround sound. The technology unlocks the full sonic potential of movie, television, and music content, further elevating playback performance of lossless audio on the Blu-ray Disc.
Speaking at the launch, Mr. Kabir Khan, the film’s director, said, “Ek Tha Tiger is the first movie to be mastered with Dolby’s advanced 96k upsampling technology on a Blu-ray disc. The technology ensures that consumers now get the very best audio experience possible, along with full HD quality video from their Blu-ray playback systems.” He added, “From a content creator’s perspective, Dolby TrueHD with advanced 96k upsampling allows us to offer more realism and an immersive audio experience to consumers. We are delighted that “Ek Tha Tiger” is the first movie in India to use this technology on Blu-ray.”

The new Dolby TrueHD coding solution enables facilities to integrate the benefits of 96 kHz playback-quality audio into the final master while simultaneously reducing the incidence of digital artifacts introduced during the content-creation process.
