★ Salman Khan’s parents move to a rented place !

For the first time in nearly 40 years, Salim Khan’s Galaxy Apartments, a landmark address in Bollywood, is lying vacant.

The writer, his wife Salma and youngest daughter Arpita Khan have shifted to a rented place in a building next to Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s home in Bandra.

Our source says, “Salim saab has rented a floor in the building for nearly six months because the first floor of Galaxy is getting a face-lift.”

Of course, the Khans, known for their open-door policy, continue to follow that in their makeshift apartment, too. Even today, close friends and well-wishers walk into their home unannounced for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Meanwhile, Salman continues to stay in his one-and-a-half room apartment on the ground floor of Galaxy.

He is perhaps the only world-famous superstar who lives in an approximately 500-600 square feet home and still wields the maximum power.

★ Salman’s last birthday at Galaxy apartments !

Today Salman Khan turns 47. This birthday could well be Salman Khan’s last one at home. Next year at this time, Salman hopes to be in his new home which is quite near to Galaxy Apartments where he stays at the moment.

Says a very close friend of the superstar, “This year Salman’s birthday bash was supposed to take place at his farm house as usual. But Salman said to have the party at home this time. Because his next birthday would be in his new residence. It’s a very unhappy thought for Salman. But what to do? Galaxy Apartments is getting cramped for him, his wardrobe and his cars. He fought off moving out as long as he could.” 

Unlike the 3-day extended birthdays at his farm-house every year, this year Salman Khan brings in his birthday on December 27 with a party at his home in Bandra. The guest list: Aamir Khan & wife Kiran, Sajid Nadiadwala, Farah Khan and Husband Shirish Kunder, Sonakshi Sinha with her parents. A host of guests are expected to drop in

Katina Kaif who is in London with her family for Christmas and New Years, has already sent her birthday wishes. 

There is a sense of foreboding among Salman’s family and friends that this time on his birthday the superstar’s hit-and-run case from 2002 may come visiting him. 

Salman, in fact, added to his well-wishers’ fears by drawling at a press conference that he might be in court on his birthday. But if the truth be told, Salman is not the least worried about the 2002 case catching up with him this birthday. 

The actor’s close friend says, “Salman is the most fearless and outspoken star in the industry. He isn’t the least afraid of facing the truth, whatever it may be. He has told us, ‘Jail jaana hoga to jayenge. Jo kismet mein likha hai who nibhayenge.’ We just feel bad that God has given Salman the biggest stardom possible. And then he has given him these police ka chakkar and also health problems. His neurological problem is far from over.” 

We also hear from the friend that contrary to his declarations that marriage will happen when it happens, Salman has decided to not get married at all. 

“He feels marriage is not written in his horoscope. Since it hasn’t happened for so long, he feels it’s not meant to happen at all.”

Salman Khan seems to have developed a fondness for young Imran Khan. having appreciated the young Khan and his film Delhi Belly on public forums, Salman has now decided to be Imran’s personal guardian angel. On Sunday night, Salman asked Imran to come over to his residence, Galaxy Apartments in Bandra to meet the fans who had gathered outside to catch a glimpse of the Dabangg man.

However, Imran was busy with his wife Avantika since it was her birthday and couldn’t comply to the elder Khan’s wishes. But being Salman Khan means never taking ‘no’ for an answer. The star went over to Imran’s home where he spent some time with the young actor and his wife. Salman then took him back to Galaxy apartments to meet the many fans. In effect, teaching the younger Khan the rules of fan management.

A source told Mumbai Mirror, “Salman has grown extremely close to Aamir Khan in the last few years. When Imran went on Salman’s show Dus Ka Dum to promote his debut film Jaane Tu…Ya Jaane Na, Salman was extremely supportive.

Imran’s film I Hate Luv Storys, Salman even called Karan Johar to say that he loved the promos. However, now after the success of Delhi belly, Salman felt that Imran should connect to his fans in a bigger way.

Imran being an extremely private person even deleted his Twitter account a year back. On the other hand, Salman is a fan’s star. having realised what fans can do to one’s acting career, Salman wanted Imran to follow in his footsteps and connect to the masses.”

Speaking about the incident on Sunday night, the source revealed, “On Sunday night, Salman suddenly called Imran and asked him to reach Galaxy Apartments. Imran and his wife were busy cutting Avantika’s birthday cake. When Imran explained that he was tied up, Salman went over to Imran’s house to spend some time with him and his wife.

However, on his way back he asked Imran to accompany him. There was a crowd gathered outside Salman’s residence since it was Shab-E-Baraat and he wanted Imran to meet the fans. Salman told Imran how connecting to the fans is as important as working in films.”

Now, here’s another anecdote for the book Imran Khan plans to write about Salman, for sure. Imran who admires the older Khan a lot once told the media, “For me, the man (Salman) is a mystery that I am trying to unravel.

In my head is a plan to bring out a coffee table book on bhai. I just want each page to have one small aspect of Salman with exclusive photographs. I’m actually gathering different accounts on him from various people so that I can compile them to make my book.”

And the younger Khan’s admiration of Salman did not just end at the book. Imran had also said, “I want to spend a night drinking with Salman. Unfortunately, at the moment, I’m on a super strict diet and I’m not touching any alcohol. But some day in the near future, I plan to ask Salman if I can spend an evening with him.” Looks like his wish has been fulfilled. He has now had the chance of spending better part of a night with the older Khan, part of it at his home and part of it at Salman’s Galaxy Apartments.

In fact, in his forthcoming film Mere Brother Ki Dulhann, Imran will be paying Salman a tribute by repeating his famoud dialogue from the film Wanted ‘Ek baar maine commitment kar diya toh main apne aap ki bhi nahi sunta’.

When contacted Imran’s spokesperson said, “Yes Salman did come in to meet Imran on Sunday night.”
